POST-TRAUMATIC EPILEPSY

The purpose of the review was the analysis of modern scientific data on the pathogenetic mechanisms of development of post-traumatic epilepsy (PTE). Despite significant advances in experimental and clinical studies in this direction, there is currently no generally accepted point of view which of the neuropathophysiological processes is triggered in the pathogenesis of PTE and accordingly there is no reliable strategy for antiepileptic therapy. The article also reviews existing approaches in the treatment and prevention of PTE.
