PARAMETERS OF ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY IN NORMAL AND TRANSFORMED CELLS

Activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione-dependent enzymes — peroxidase and transferase are shown to be increased both in transformed lymphocytes (leucosis L1210) and Erlich ascitic carcinoma cells as compared with normal T-lymphocytes (isolated rat thymocytes). Treatment of L1210 cells with 10-5 M fullerene C60 was followed by decrease of SOD activity, indicating on ability of fullerene C60 to modify antioxidant activity of transformed cells.
