THE MANAGEMENT OF THE PATIENTS WITH INFECTIVE ENDOCARDITIS OF PROSTHETIC HEART VALVE: REVIEW AND CLINICAL CASE REPORT

Infective endocarditis (ІЕ) is defined as an infection of a native or prosthetic heart valve, myocardial surface, or of indwelling cardiac device. The influence of co-morbidities on prognosis for the management of IE patients is well-known, especially associated with renal dysfunction and oncology. These points are under-represented in current guidelines for the management of patients with IE, particularly regarding the prescribing of anticoagulation therapy, the relevance and timing of surgery. The aim is to search and to justify the most appropriate management for comorbid elderly patient with prosthetic valve endocarditis after surgical aortic valve replacement by systematical review of the literature using UpToDate, PubMed databases. We present the clinical case report of prosthetic valve IE in an elderly patient with multiple comorbidity. The management was substantiated basing on the individual characteristics of the patient.
