CLINICAL AND BIOLOGICAL FEATURES OF POSTOPERATIVE WOUNDS IN PATIENTS WITH HEAD AND NECK CANCER

It was analyzed the results of treatment of 184 patients with cancer of the oral cavity and oropharynx of III–IV stages, divided into two groups: the first group included 79 patients, where the first stage of treatment was surgery, and then adjuvant radiation therapy. The second group consisted of 105 patients. The first stage of treatment was neoаdjuvant exposure and after radical surgery. All patients were verified morphologically squamous cell carcinoma. Comparative evaluation of wound complications in both groups depending on the sequence of carrying out surgery and radiation treatment and disease stages. Change of the sequence of the main stages of combined treatment of patients, when radiation therapy is transferred to the post-operative period, decreases wound complications by 18.5% (p<0.01).
