The article deals with a field of medical science — resuscitation. There is a brief sketch of history of its development. It is given the definition of resuscitation, its main methodologic principles are pointed out. The authors describe in details the key sections of resuscitation — cardiopulmonary and cerebral resuscitation. The elaboration of physical methods of neuroprotective protection of the brain, a so called mild therapeutic hypothermy, as well as plasma substitutes and the drug Perforane. The article concerns moral and ethic problems in resuscitation as well.
